Even More Rain Forecast In Austin Area After Recent Heavy Storms
First part of the week will be rainy, but by the weekend clouds are expected to part, ushering in sunny days once more.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — After heavy rains last week that resulted in flooding in many parts of the region, the weekend was, mercifully, devoid of measurable rainfall and even sunny. But we're not done with the rain yet as more showers are expected as the work week begins.
And the rain could be heavy, even as area reservoirs are already above capacity — including Lake Travis which is 144 percent filled after the flood-inducing rain that pelted Central Texas last week.
There's a 50 percent chance of showers on Monday after 8 a.m., according to the National Weathers Service. Forecasters expect new precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch. The high temperature is expected to be 64 degrees. By Monday night, the same chance of rain will linger, with a low degree of 52 degrees. Rainfall from between a quarter and a half to an inch is possible, forecasters predict.

The chances of rain remain the same into Tuesday, with a 50 percent probability. It will be cloudy with a high near 61 degrees. By nightfall, showers are expected mainly after 8 p.m. with the chance of rain increasing to 60 percent. It will be a cloudy day with a low temperature of around 54 degress.
By Wednesday, more rain is something of a foregone conclusion at an 80 percent chance. The high will reach just 60 degrees, according to forecasters. That chance of rain persists into Wednesday evening with showers expected after 8 p.m. The low temperature is forecast at 54 degrees.

By Thursday, chances of rain start to diminish. A 50 percent chance of rain mainly before 8 a.m. is predicted on a day that will be mostly cloudy with a high temperature near 65 degrees. The chance of rain falls precipitously by nightfall at just 20 percent before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy conditions will continue, and the low temperature will be around 53 degrees.
But then, the clouds will part at long last to usher in a sunny weekend. Unlike the last two washed-out weekends that made travel potentially unsafe, the weekend that follows is expected to be picture perfect, as if ordered special by the chamber of commerce. To wit:
- Friday: Mostly sunny with a high near 72.
- Saturday: Sunny with a high near 76.
- Sunday: Sunny with a high near 72.
So hang in there, Austin-area residents. Keep that umbrella at the ready for the first part of the week, but know that soon, sunny days are here again.
