AUSTIN, TEXAS — As Austin social events go, this one ain't baaaaad at all: The 2019 Lamb Jam Tour festival — an epic gastronomic experience pitting 16 of the city's best chefs vying for a culinary title — is scheduled this weekend.

The chefs will vie for the title of Lamb Jam Austin Champion while celebrating the 80,000 family-operated farms and ranches raising lamb across the country. Austin Lamb Jam ticket purchases help support Austin Food & Wine Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering awareness and innovation in the Central Texas culinary community through grants, educational programming and events.

Like the titular animal in the event title, the lamb jam event is a roaming one, hopping from place to place. Other stops include Boston, Denver, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C. In Austin, the event is scheduled to take place March 31 at Hotel Van Zandt, 605 Davis St. Presented by the American Lamb Board, the multi-city tour's first stop happens to be in Austin.
