Arrested: Moises Balderas-Martinez, White male, 19 years of age

The Austin Police Department (APD) has made an arrest in the August 19 fatality crash on N. Lamar Blvd. and Ken St. Nineteen-year-old Moises Balderas-Martinez was arrested and charged with fail to stop and render aid.

At approximately 11:36 p.m., the victim, identified as Jenny Gonzales-Zepeda was walking across the street at N. Lamar Blvd. and Ken St. to meet a friend. At the same time, a Nissan driven by Moises Balderas-Martinez struck Jenny. He continued to drive, leaving the scene of the collision.

Jenny Gonzales-Zepeda was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officers later located Moises Balderas-Martinez and he was taken into custody.

This is Austin’s 74th fatal traffic crash of 2021, resulting in 80 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2020, there were 53 fatal crashes resulting in 58 fatalities.
