Fire Breaks Out At Downtown Austin Home
Firefighters responded to a conflagration at 612 HIghland Ave. Monday evening at an unoccupied home that was being remodeled.
AUSTIN, TX — Firefighters responded to a house fire in downtown Austin that quickly grew to second-alarm status on Monday evening.
The blaze ignited at a home on 612 Highland Ave. at around 7 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found the unoccupied structure was in the midst of being remodeled when the fire broke out.
Firefighters were able to stave off the flames quickly, resulting in minimal damage to other nearby structures. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was not immediately known.

By Tuesday, fire officials updated via Twitter that the fire remained under investigation but appears to have been accidental. The damage to the home, however, was a total loss with $750,000 worth in structural damage and $50,000 for its contents.

Monetary damage to adjoining homes was estimated at $20,000, fire officials added.
