Fire Prompts Evacuation Of West Campus Apartment Complex
The Austin Fire Department said crews were working to extinguish the fire at 2815 Rio Grande St. where tenants were evacuated Monday night.
AUSTIN, TX — A three-story apartment building on West Campus was evacuated Monday evening as a result of a fire, officials said.
In a tweet posted just before 7:30 p.m., the Austin Fire Department said crews were working to extinguish the conflagration at 2815 Rio Grande St. Given that the fire was in the building's interior, officials added, tenants were evacuated for their safety.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area.

At last check, crews had knocked out the fire, according to emergency officials. Firefighters were checking void spaces to ensure no flare-up would occur, official updated on Twitter.
