AUSTIN, TEXAS — If you’re looking to soak up some culture for free, you might consider visiting area museums on Sunday, Sept. 23, for "Austin Museum Day," an annual event inspired by a national effort by Smithsonian magazine.

According to Smithsonian officials, participants can download one ticket per email address that provides free general admission for two people, with participating museums in all 50 states. To snag a ticket on Saturday for those wishing to visit museums elsewhere, click here.

Ever stepping to its own beat, Austin is staging its version on Sunday. Austin Museum Partnership officials ask would-be museum visitors to let them know they're coming on Facebook and tag photos with hashtags #MuseumDay2018 and #AustinMuseums.
