Frontage Road Closures/Detours Planned At U.S. 183/I-35

Beginning Friday, Aug. 2, at 9 p.m. until Monday, Aug. 5 at 5 a.m., southbound U.S. 183 main lanes and frontage road will be closed at I-35.

AUSTIN, TX — Texas Department of Transportation crews will close the southbound U.S. 183 main lanes and frontage road this weekend to install large steel beams for a new southbound Interstate 35 to southbound U.S. 183 flyover, officials said.

Beginning Friday, Aug. 2, at 9 p.m. until Monday, Aug. 5 at 5 a.m., the southbound U.S. 183 main lanes and frontage road will be closed at I-35. TxDOT recommends drivers use US 290 East to avoid the closure. (See detour map below.)

  • Southbound U.S. 183 traffic will exit at via the southbound I-35 flyover, then take the U.S. 290 East flyover and exit at U.S. 183 to access southbound U.S. 183

FRONTAGE ROAD DETOURS

  • Southbound U.S. 183 frontage road traffic will turn right at the southbound I-35 frontage road and take U.S. 290 East to the exit for U.S. 183.
  • Southbound U.S. 183 traffic planning to go northbound on I-35 will turn right on the southbound I-35 frontage road and take the turnaround at U.S. 290 East to access the northbound I-35 entrance ramp, south of St. Johns Avenue.
