AUSTIN RECORD CONVENTION

For audiophile, this is like being a kid in a candy store. For those who love the warmth conveyed in a vinyl album containing the nuances and sounds sanitized out of the CD format, this is paradise. The big kahoona of such conventions. The musical mother lode. More than 50,000 square feet of space is crammed with records for this event among some 300 different dealers. You can find virtually everything here, from the obscure to the contemporary. If you've never been, love vinyl and decide to venture out, be prepared. It's enough of a spectacle to make you weep. Cost of admission is $5. Then, go nuts.

WHEN: Saturday, May 19, and Sunday, May 20. Doors open at 10 a.m.

WHERE: Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Rd.
