Gas Odor Leads To Drug Bust In North Austin
A resident of an apartment along the 1900 block of Wells Branch Parkway was arrested after some 40 kilos of meth were found inside the unit.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A strong odor of gas in North Austin this week led to a drug bust centered on methamphetamine, police said.
At around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Travis County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to assist the Austin Fire Department on a 9-1-1 call reporting the odor of natural gas emanating from an apartment along the 1900 block of Wells Branch Parkway, a sheriff's office spokesperson wrote in an email on Thursday.
Fire crews alerted an arriving deputy to a person running from the apartment before the source of the odor was found to be coming from a vehicle gas tank inside the unity. Police later seized approximately 30 to 40 kilos of methamphetamine, according to the advisory.
