George Strait To Perform In Austin Next Summer For His Only Texas Stop

Tickets go on sale Nov. 3 for concert celebrating the local venue's 40th anniversary, but you better act quick given his immense popularity.

AUSTIN, TX — Singer George Strait on Friday announced he'll be performing next summer at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin — the only Texas concert on his calendar — with tickets going on sale next month.

The appearance by the Texas icon will help celebrate the venue's 40th anniversary. Strait said earlier this year he'd perform in Austin soon, but hadn't settled on a location. Concert organizers said his June 3, 2018, show will be dubbed "Strait Texas."

Tickets go on sale Nov. 3 starting at 10 a.m. at TexasBoxOffice.com. The singer has performed at the Frank Erwin Center many times before — 13 times to be exact — dating way back to Sept. 10, 1987, to his most recent show there Jan. 10, 2014.

Last month, Strait organized a benefit concert to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Harvey at the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, joined in a star-studded lineup comprising some of his pals: Robert Earl Keen, Miranda Lambert, Lyle Lovett and Chris Stapleton.

If you decide to try to buy tickets next month for his Austin gig, you might want to marshal the full breadth of your concentration to achieve a single-minded, laser-like focus, send the family away somewhere nice to ensure you will be devoid of distraction, ensure your phone or computer is fully charged for the Internet box office, have the credit card at the ready and have your fingers poised to start punching the telephone numbers or typing at exactly 10 a.m. and not a nanosecond later.

Why? Because as many a disappointed George Strait fan will tell you, tickets to his performances sell out faster than a Texas horned lizard scurrying across asphalt in a Texas summer. Those tickets to his benefit concert in San Antonio sold out in under 20 minutes.
