Godzilla Pops Up In Austin

AUSTIN, TX — Godzilla has invaded Austin — and a half-dozen other cities across the country — in a manner of speaking.

Toho and Kinokuniya announced a Godzilla Store Invasion that begun earlier in May until the end of June, where die-hard fans can get their hands on one-of-a-kind items that can be found nowhere else outside of Japan's Godzilla store in Tokyo, officials said. Locally, such merchandise is available at a store along Airport Boulevard.

The Godzilla Pop Up Shop is being featured at Kinokuniya stores in Austin, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The only other city in Texas to feature the unique items is Carrollton, Texas. Edgewater, New Jersey, also is among the sites carrying the merchandise until June 30.

With the highly anticipated release of GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS on May 31st, several Kinokuniya stores across the nation have come together to bring the Godzilla Store to fans, enabling access to the best Godzilla merchandise. At Godzilla Store Pop Up Shops, fans can find an abundance of unique visual books, a whopping 12 of the Godzilla “B SIDE LABEL” stickers, various Godzilla T-shirts including the coveted TOMODACHI shirt featuring Godzilla and Jet Jaguar, a Second-Form Shin Godzilla Cable Bite, several Godzilla straps, and more.

Officials tell Patch these unique and one-of-a-kind items can be found nowhere else outside of Japan’s Godzilla Store in Tokyo. The stores first popped up on May 18. GODZILLA STORE INVASION are available at the following Kinokuniya locations until June 30th:
