This great local business sponsors the Austin Daily. We love what they do, and we think you will, too:

Austin Pet Owners: did you know there's an environmentally friendly way to dispose of your pet poop? Each year in America dogs generate over 11 million tons of poop, much of which ends in local landfills and waterways. That's a lot of poop. Fortunately, there's a locally owned business that will take your poop and recycle it into fertilizer and soil enhancement for gardens and landscaping. Visit Pet Agree Waste Removal to learn more. Give them a call — they'll literally pick up your pet's poop.

Here are the top stories in Austin today:

1) A morning jogger at Auditorium Shores stumbled across a homicide scene. APD is currently investigating a homicide near downtown at Auditorium Shores at Town Lake Metropolitan Park. KVUE reports that a jogger phoned authorities around 6:54 a.m. after discovering an unresponsive individual at the park. When police officials and EMS medics arrived at the scene, the man was unresponsive and showed signs of head trauma.

APD is asking anyone with any information about this incident to call the APD Homicide tip line at 512-477-3588 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS.

KVUE has more on this story here.

3) Good news: bull riding is coming to Moody Center! PBR (Professional Bull Riders) are bringing the Austin Gamblers to our brand-new Moody Center on Aug. 26, 27, 28 to represent Texas' capital city in the PBR Team Series powered by Dell Technologies. Head to CBS Austin to learn more about the events and how you can attend!

4) An opportunity to make your voice heard in our community: City officials want your input on its water protection plan. The City of Austin plans to spend the next three years studying the floodplain, updating maps, and improving regulations. KVUE reports that Travis County's insurance flood maps were last updated in 2008 and that Austin approved the latest map in 2019. It's up to the communities to manage floodplain locations.

Learn more about the city's plans and how to make your voice heard here at KVUE.

5) Trash to Treasure: A Texas State student is in the process of adopting a baby he rescued from a dumpster. In 2017, Texas State student Jimmy Amisial was visiting his home country of Haiti when he found a baby, abandoned, covered in ants, and lying on top of a pile of garbage. Amisial, 22 at the time, picked up the baby and reported him missing to the police. The police made a report about the abandoned baby and told Amisial he could become the child's guardian.

As of 2019, Amisial has decided to move forward with the adoption process and is now trying to raise the $150,000 needed to make this dream a reality.
