I-35 Stretch To Be Reduced To One Lane Starting Monday, Feb. 18

Length of highway down to one lane until Tuesday morning as one of several Texas Department of Transportation road projects.

AUSTIN,TEXAS — Southbound Interstate 35 will be reduced to one lane between Slaughter Lane and the Slaughter Creek overpass starting Monday night, officials said.

The stretch of highway will be reduced to a single lane from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., according ot Austin police. Officials urge motorists to consider alternate routes during the closure. Texas Department of Transportation officials confirmed the closure, but put the hours at between 10 p.m. on Monday to 5 am. on Tuesday, Feb. 19.

The planned closure of lanes along the highway stretch is just one of several projects TxDot has planned toward improving traffic in the future. TxDot outlined its list of lane closures as they do each week to give motorists a heads up on potential traffic hot spots.

I-35 AT COUNTY ROAD 305

  • I-35 frontage road left lane closed in both directions at County Road 305
    • Through spring 2019

I-35 AT FM 3406

  • Eastbound FM 3406 left lane closed between Chisholm Trail and I-35
    • From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 22

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LANE TO US 290 EAST

  • St. Johns Avenue reduced to one lane in each direction at I-35
    • Until further notice
  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Camino La Costa and St. Johns Avenue
  • From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, February 17 through Thursday, February 21
  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between St. Johns Avenue and US 183
    • From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 through Thursday, Feb. 21
  • Southbound I-35 exit #240 for US 183 will be closed. Use exit #241 for Rundberg Lane
    • From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 through Thursday, Feb. 21
  • Norwood Park Boulevard closed at I-35. Use Rutherford Lane
    • From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 through Saturday, Feb. 23

I-35 AT OLTORF STREET

  • Various southbound I-35 frontage road closed between Woodland Avenue and Algarita Avenue. Watch for flaggers.
    • From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 and from 8 p.m. until 3 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17
  • Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between St. Edwards Dr and Woodward St
    • From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 22

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Slaughter Lane and Slaughter Creek Overpass
    • From 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18 through Tuesday, Feb. 19
  • Various southbound I-35 and southbound I-35 frontage road closures between William Cannon Drive and Slaughter Lane. Exit #227 will also be closed.
