Interstate 35 Lane Closures For Jan. 25-Feb. 1, 2019

AUSTIN, TEXAS — The Texas Department of Transportation is often the object of ire from drivers, what with its insistence on working on state roadways. The nerve, some drivers mutter under their breath. But such road are improvements are necessary to the infrastructure.

To ameliorate drivers' frustration in unwittingly encountering road projects — and the slowed-down traffic flow such work often creates — TxDot each week issues a list of planned lane closures along Interstate 35. This gives motorists a heads up so they can plan their driving routes ahead of time if need be.

Don't hate on TxDot. We need them roads all smooth and spiffy. Take a gander at the latest list of I-35 closures, this latest one for the week between Jan. 25 to Feb. 1:

I-35 AT COUNTY ROAD 305

• I-35 frontage road left lane closed in both directions at County Road 305
  • Through spring 2019

I-35 AT FM 3406

• Eastbound FM 3406 left lane closed at FM 3406
  • From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, January 28 through Friday, Feb. 1
• Various I-35 frontage road closures at FM 3406
  • From 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

• Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Gattis School Road and RM 620
  • From 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28 through Friday, Feb. 1
• Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between US 79/Sam Bass Road and RM 620
  • From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28 through Friday, Feb. 1
• Look for northbound I-35 frontage road closures between Hesters Crossing and RM 620
  • From 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28 and Tuesday, Jan. 29

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LANE TO US 290 EAST

• I-35 south to northbound U-turn closed at US 290 East
  • Through Wednesday, April 10
• St. Johns Avenue reduced to one lane in both directions across I-35
  • Until further notice
• I-35 closed in both directions at Norwood Park Boulevad and Wonsley Drive. Wonsley Drive will also be closed.
  • From 6 a.m. until 9 a.m. Saturday, January 26 and Sunday, Jan. 27
• I-35 left lane closed in both directions between US 290 East and US 183
  • From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 27 through Thursday, Jan. 31
• Southbound I-35 right lane closed between Rundberg Lane and Powell Lane. Use Exit #241 for Rundberg Lane.
  • From 9 p.m until 5 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 27 through Thursday, Jan. 31
• Northbound I-35 U-turn closed at US 183
  • From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 27 through Thursday, Jan. 31

I-35 AT OLTORF STREET

• Northbound I-35 frontage road left land closed between SH 71 and Woodward Street
  • From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28 through Saturday, Feb. 2
• Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at Woodward Street
  • From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30 through Friday, Feb. 1
• Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one right lane at Woodland Avenue. Exit #232 will be also be closed.
  • From 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30 through Thursday, Jan. 31
• Northbound I-35 right lane closed between Oltorf Street and Woodland Avenue. Exit #232 will also be closed.
  • From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30 through Thursday, Jan. 31
• Eastbound Oltorf Street right turn lane closed at I-35
  • From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

• Various I-35 northbound frontage road closures at William Cannon Drive
  • From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28 through Friday, Feb. 1
• Westbound William Cannon Drive right turn lane closed at I-35
  • Through winter 2019

I-35 MAINTENANCE

• Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed at Ardenwood Road
  • From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28 through Tuesday, Jan. 29
• Southbound I-35 entrance ramp closed at 6th Street
  • From 2 a.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 and from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30 through Thursday, Jan. 31
