Interstate 35 Lane Closures For March 23-29

Texas Department of Transportation issues weekly list of interstate road closures for the week ahead to help ensure smooth travel.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — The Texas Department of Transportation is here to help you. Seriously. Yes, they are often the subject of ire given the perennial sight of roads being worked on throughout the city and state. But there's more than 80,000miles of highway out there, according to estimates.

They try to get repairs done as quickly as they can! To mitigate the ire and help motorists negotiate around road work, TxDot each week publishes a list of lane closures along Interstate 35. This week's list is shorter than previous ones.

Here is the latest batch of roads undergoing work from March 23-29, 2019:

I-35 AT CR 305

  • I-35 frontage road left lane closed in both directions at CR 305
    • Through April 2019

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LANE TO US 290 EAST

  • Powell Lane closed at I-35
    • Through April 2019
  • St. Johns Avenue reduced to one lane in both directions across I-35
    • Until further notice
  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed nightly between Barwood Park and Powell Lane
    • Sunday, March 24 through Friday, March 29 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed nightly between Powell Lane and US 183. The entrance ramp before US 183 will also be closed.
    • Sunday, March 24 through Friday, March 29 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Southbound I-35 U-turn closed nightly at US 183
    • Sunday, March 24 through Friday, March 29 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Northbound I-35 left lane closed nightly between US 183 and Norwood Park Drive
    • Sunday, March 24 through Friday, March 29 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Southbound I-35 U-turn closed at 51st Street
    • Thursday, March 28 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

I-35 AT OLTORF STREET

  • Northbound I-35 exit ramp closed nightly for Woodland Avenue (#232B)
    • Sunday, March 24 through Friday, March 29 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Alternating northbound I-35 closures between Woodward Street and Oltorf Street. The entrance ramp will also be closed.
    • Tuesday, March 26 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

  • Alternating I-35 frontage road closures in both directions at William Cannon Drive
    • Sunday, March 24 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive. The northbound U-turn at Stassney Lane will also be closed.
    • Monday, March 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed daily between William Cannon Drive and Foremost Drive
    • Monday, March 25 through Friday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily between William Cannon Drive and Boggy Creek Drive
    • Monday, March 25 through Friday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily between Nelms Drive and Stassney Lane
    • Monday, March 25 through Friday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Westbound William Cannon Drive right-turn lane closed at I-35
    • Until Friday, March 29

I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

  • Various southbound I-35 frontage road closures between Posey Road and York Creek Road. Exit #196 for York Creek Road will also be closed Sunday night. The southbound I-35 frontage road will shift to one-way only Monday morning.
    • Sunday, March 24 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Northbound I-35 frontage road closed between York Creed Road and Posey Road. Exit #199 for Posey Road will also be closed Sunday night. Use Exit #200 for Centerpoint Road.
    • Sunday, March 24 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Posey Road and York Creek Road
    • Monday, March 25 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
