Interstate 35 Lanes, Bridge To Close In South Austin
Southbound Interstate 35 main lanes, the Oltorf Street bridge and the Woodland Avenue underpass will be closed on Tuesday for road work.
SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation will temporarily close southbound Interstate 35 main lanes, the Oltorf Street bridge and the Woodland Avenue underpass on Tuesday, officials revealed.
The March 31 closures are planned to accommodate crews' roadway repair work and leveling for pavement ahead of final paving expected to occur later this spring, officials said in a press advisory.
Starting at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, the southbound I-35 main lanes will be closed between Woodland Avenue and St. Edwards Drive, according to transportation officials. Traffic will detour to the southbound I-35 frontage road at the Woodland Avenue exit (#232) and will re-enter I-35 at the Oltorf Street entrance ramp, just north of Woodward Street. \

The Oltorf Street bridge and Woodland Avenue at I-35 will close to traffic beginning at 9 p.m. Traffic will be detoured to Woodward Street to the south and Riverside Drive to the north to cross I-35. Additionally, the inside lane of northbound I-35 will be closed to allow crews to remove and reconstruct portions of the center-median barrier.
All main lanes will reopen to traffic as work is completed, but no later than 6 a.m. The Oltorf Street bridge and the underpass at Woodland Avenue and I-35 will reopen by 7 a.m.
