Interstate 35 Road Closures For April 6-12, 2019

AUSTIN, TEXAS — It's that time of the week again when the Texas Department of Transportation alerts the public to road closures along Interstate 35 in the week ahead. Knowing ahead of time which sections of the highway will be closed helps drivers avoid potential congestion and perhaps plot out alternative routes in reaching their destinations.

So, without further ado, here are the I-35 road closures for April 6-12:

I-35 MAINLANES TO CLOSE NEAR OLTORF STREET FOR OVERHEAD SIGN REPLACEMENT

Crews will temporarily close the southbound I-35 mainlanes to traffic on Tuesday, April 9 from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. for the placement of large overhead signage between Woodlane Avenue and the entrance ramp south of Oltorf Street.

During the closure, southbound I-35 mainlane traffic will be diverted to the frontage road at the Oltorf Street exit (232) and will re-enter I-35 at the entrance ramps south of Oltorf Street. Woodland Avenue and Oltorf Street at I-35 will close to traffic during this time. Drivers wishing to cross I-35 at Woodland Avenue or Oltorf Street should use Woodward Street or Riverside Drive. Drivers are encouraged to exit early to seek other routes during the closure as delays are expected.

I-35 AT CR 305

• I-35 frontage road left lane closed in both directions at CR 305

• Northbound I-35 closed at CR 305. Detour at Exit #277. The northbound I-35 ramps and southbound I-35 left lane will also close at 8 p.m. at CR 305.
  • Wednesday, April 10 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Southbound I-35 closed at CR 305. Detour at Exit #277. The southbound I-35 ramps and northbound I-35 left lane will also close at 8 p.m. at CR 305.
  • Thursday, April 11 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LANE TO US 290 EAST

• Southbound I-35 U-turn closed at US 290 East
  • Through May
• Powell Lane closed at I-35

• St. Johns Avenue reduced to one lane in both directions across I-35
  • Until further notice
• I-35 frontage road left lane closed in both directions at St. Johns Avenue
  • Sunday, April 7 through Friday, April 12 from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m.
• Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed nightly between Barwood Park and US 290 East
  • Sunday, April 7 through Friday, April 12 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Alternating southbound I-35 frontage road closures nightly between Barwood Park and US 183. Exit #240 and the following entrance ramp will also be closed.
  • Monday, April 8 through Wednesday, April 10 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Northbound I-35 right lane closed between US 290 East and US 183
  • Monday, April 8 through Friday, April 12 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Alternating southbound I-35 frontage road closures between Delmar Avenue and St. Johns Avenue
  • Tuesday, April 9 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Alternating I-35 frontage road closures at St. Johns Avenue. The southbound I-35 Koenig Lane exit ramp and the St. Johns Avenue entrance ramp will also be closed.
  • Thursday, April 11 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Fenelon Drive closed nightly at I-35. Detour via Rutherford Lane or Hermitage Drive.
  • Tuesday, April 9 through Friday, April 12 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Northbound I-35 auxiliary right lane closed between US 290 East and St. Johns Avenue
  • Sunday, April 7 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-35 AT OLTORF STREET

• Southbound I-35 entrance ramp closed at Woodward Street
  • Sunday, April 7 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
• Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane daily between St. Edwards Drive and Woodward Street
  • Monday, April 8 through Friday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Southbound I-35 right lane closed between Oltorf Street and Woodward Street
  • Thursday, April 11 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Woodland Avenue and Oltorf Street. Watch for flaggers.
  • Monday, April 8 through Thursday, April 11 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
• Southbound I-35 closed between Woodland Avenue and Oltorf Street. The entrance and exit ramps will also be closed.
  • Tuesday, April 9 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

• Southbound I-35 U-turn closed at William Cannon Drive
  • Sunday, April 7 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
• Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at Slaughter Creek Overpass
  • Monday, April 8 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed daily between William Cannon Drive and Foremost Drive
  • Monday, April 8 through Friday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily between Nelms Drive and Stassney Lane
  • Monday, April 8 through Friday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily between Boggy Creek Drive and William Cannon Drive
  • Monday, April 8 through Friday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Westbound William Cannon Drive reduced to one lane at I-35
