Investigation Ongoing In Lethal Batch Of Drugs In Austin
Three people were transported to the hospital after overdosing, including one person who later died.
AUSTIN, TX — An investigation continues into a batch of potentially lethal narcotics the killed one person and injured two others, police said Monday.
The death and injuries prompted police to issue an alert on Saturday to warn the public. All told, three people were transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas after ingesting from the drug batch, with one of the patients dying shortly after arriving for medical treatment.
"Please remember that the use of illegal drugs is not safe and places the user's life in danger," police said in their previous alert. "This particular drug has various street names such as Molly, X, Ecstasy," officials noted.

On Monday, police said it's expected to take 90 days to determine the chemical makeup of the drugs that caused the overdoses.

Police declined to detail the condition of the two hospitalized patients: "We do not have an update on their conditions at this time nor is there any new information to release," police wrote in a press advisory.
