Just Two SXSW Days Left, But Interesting Events Abound

Hip hop series 'Blaze' makes its debut, with T.I. on hand, legendary local artists take the stage, 'Isle of Dogs' premieres, gaming galore.

AUSTIN, TX — Just two more days left for SXSW. Time really does fly when you're having fun, eh? Yet there's plenty to do on this penultimate day.

The hip-hop doc series Rapture at the Paramount theater makes its debut. The first episode features T.I., who will be on hand with Just Blaze, Rapsody, and Dave East for an extended Q&A. The artists will perform later tonight at Stubb’s.

Here's a description from SXSW: "From Mass Appeal and executive producers Sacha Jenkins, Peter Bittenbender and Ben Selkow, Rapture stares directly into the bright light that hip hop culture shines on the world and doesn’t blink. Over 8 episodes and featuring a diverse swath of artists -- Nas and Dave East, T.I., Rapsody, Logic, G-Eazy, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, 2 Chainz and Just Blaze – Rapture dives into the artists’ lives with their families and friends, to sitting front row in the studio and grinding on tour, to experiencing the ecstatic power of moving the crowd. Rapture launches globally on Netflix March 30."

We've fetched the trailer for you:

SXSW Gaming has a Featured Session with Rick Fox this afternoon followed by the always-amazing Gaming Awards hosted this year by Alanah Pearce and Rich Campbell.

On yet another high note, the Music Festival has its melodious crescendo showcase of local legends, including Shinyribs and Roky Erickson at The Outdoor Stage presented by MGM Resorts, SXSW Slugfest, and more of our patented unexpected discoveries around every corner.

"Parting is such sweet sorrow," SXSW officials wrote in an email, and we must agree with that bit of Shakespearean lament. To assuage our grief, festival organizers provided a red panda.
