Know Your Austin Road Closures This Weekend: July 27-29, 2018
The big kahuna of road work is I-35 at William Cannon Drive for bridge demolition, but there are other construction sites elsewhere too.

AUSTIN, TX — By now, many Austin residents are aware that the main lanes of Interstate 35 at William Cannon Drive will be closed this weekend for bridge demolition. But motorists should know that in addition to this major project, there are several other roadway construction sites scheduled for this weekend of which they should be aware.
This knowledge will save you from frustration of getting stuck in traffic, making your drive that much more seamless.
Many are already aware of the I-35/William Cannon Drive work, but to recap: Crews will temporarily close I-35 mainlanes to traffic on Friday, July 27, from 10 p.m. until 9 a.m. and on Saturday, July 28, from 11 p.m. until 10 a.m. for the demolition of the William Cannon Drive bridge.

During the closure, I-35 main lane traffic will be detoured to the north and southbound frontage roads at exit 228. Eastbound and westbound traffic along William Cannon Drive will be detoured south to Slaughter Lane or north to Stassney Lane. Alternate exit options are available, and drivers are encouraged to exit early to seek other routes during the closure as delays are expected.

Texas Department of Transportation officials alert motorists of several other major projects scheduled this weekend:
I-35 AT FM 3406
- I-35 reduced to one lane in both directions under FM 3406/Old Settlers Blvd
- From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, July 29 through Thursday, August 2
I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LANE TO US 290 EAST
- Powell Ln closed at I-35. Detour via Wonsley Dr
- From 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. through August 30
- Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between St. Johns Ave and US 183
- From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. weekdays through August 3
- I-35 frontage road closed in both directions between St. Johns Ave and Delmar Ave. Blackson Ave will also be closed.
- Intermittently from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. Sunday, July 29
- I-35 frontage road closed in both directions near Blackson Ave
- Intermittently from 6:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. Sunday, July 29
- Various northbound I-35 frontage road closures between US 183 and Rundberg Ln. The Rundberg Ln exit will also be closed.
- From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, July 29 through Thursday, August 2
- Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Huntland Dr and US 290 E
- From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, July 30 through Friday, August 3
I-35 AT OLTORF STREET
- Northbound I-35 right lane closed between Woodland Ave exit and Mariposa St
- From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Thursday, July 26 through Friday, July 27
- Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Oltorf St and the Woodland Ave exit
- From 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, July 29 through Thursday, August 2
- Southbound I-35 frontage road closed between Oltorf St and Woodward St. Watch for flaggers.
- From 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday, July 30 through Friday, August 3
- Northbound I-35 frontage road closed between SH 71 and Woodward St
- From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, July 30 through Friday, August 3
- Northbound I-35 right shoulder closed between Woodland Ave exit and Mariposa St
- From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 31 through Wednesday, August 1
- Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane at St. Edwards Dr. Watch for flaggers.
- From 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 31 through Wednesday, August 1
I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE
- Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between William Cannon Dr and Nelms Dr
- Through August 2018, weather permitting
- Various southbound I-35 frontage road closures at Stassney Ln
- From 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Thursday, July 26 through Friday, July 27
- Alternating I-35 frontage road closures in both directions across Stassney Ln
- From 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Thursday, July 26 through Friday, July 27
- I-35 closed in both directions at William Cannon Dr. Use alternate route.
- From 10 p.m. until 9 a.m. Friday, July 27th and 11 p.m. until 10 a.m.Saturday, July 28th
- Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed approaching William Cannon Dr
- From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, July 29 through Monday, July 30
- Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at William Cannon Dr
- From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, July 29 through Tuesday, July 31
- Northbound I-35 right lane closed at Slaughter Ln entrance ramp. Use alternate exit.
- From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, July 29 through Tuesday, July 31
- I-35 reduced to one lane in both directions under William Cannon Dr

- From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, August 1 through Thursday, August 2
- Northbound I-35 right should closed between William Cannon Dr exit and the following exntrance ramp
- From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. through Thursday, August 2
- Northbound I-35 left lane closed at the Slaughter Ln entrance ramp
- From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Thursday, August 2 through Friday, August 3
- William Cannon Dr closed across I-35
- From 8 p.m. until 10 a.m. Friday, July 27 through Sunday, July 29
