AUSTIN, TX — The teenager whose body was recovered from Lake Travis this week after having gone missing 11 days before has been identified.

The Texas Parks & Wildlife office identified the drowned boater as Jack Elliott, 19, of Newport Beach, California, according to reports. He disappeared after falling off a boat near the Emerald Point Marina in Devil's Cover at around 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 14. The agency took over the investigation from the Travis County Sheriff's Office.

Frantic rescue attempts were undertaken by various emergency agencies in the aftermath of the boater's fall into the water before the effort shifted to one of recovery rather than rescue. The young man's body was recovered at a depth of more than 100 feet on Thursday.
