But first, today's weather:

Plenty of sun. High: 85 Low: 69.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Austin who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Austin Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top stories today in Austin:

1) Reminder for the parents: Class will not be in session at Austin ISD on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8. For the first time ever, the school district has opted to make it a student holiday. KUT reports: "Austin ISD officials said the holiday is beneficial for several reasons. First, it helps address school safety concerns because the 21 campuses serving as polling sites will be open to the public. Second, it gives eligible staff and students more chances to cast a ballot in the November election." So, plan childcare accordingly, and don't forget to vote! KUT has the full scoop on this decision.

2) Daylight Saving Time officially comes to an end, TODAY. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, at 2 a.m. marks the end of Daylight Saving Time, so if your clocks, devices, and kitchen appliances did not update on their own, be sure to turn them back one hour. The Statesman has more on the impact Daylight Saving Time has on our bodies and its history – check it out.

3) Layoffs and hiring freezes are cascading across the Austin area. Meta (Facebook's parent company), Apple, Amazon, and other small tech companies have announced that they're scaling back their workforce. KXAN has more on the potential impact on our local economy and how employees can educate themselves on their rights.

4) The beloved Skylark Lounge has been dubbed the best dive bar in Texas. For many of us, that love live music and have lived in the Austin area for some time, Skylark Lounge has been the go-to place to grab a cold brew and hear some of the best local and national blues acts. Head over to KXAN to learn more.
