Lewisville Man Drowns At Lake Travis In Central Texas

Rshaun Lamont Donaldson, 23, of Lewisville, Texas, drowned on Saturday after jumping off a boat in Baldwin Cove, officials said Monday.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — The man whose body was pulled from Lake Travis over the weekend was identified on Monday as a resident of Lewisville, sheriff's officials said.

According to a Travis County Sheriff's Office press advisory, a 911 call was made on Saturday, Sept. 8, reporting that a man who jumped off a boat in Baldwin Cove in the Pace Bend Park area failed to resurface. A subsequent search proved futile and shifted into a recovery mission called off late Saturday due to darkness.
The sheriff office's dive team returned to the lake early Sunday, recovering the body by 11:50 a.m.

On Monday, officials identified the body as Rashaun Lamont Donaldson, 23, of Lewisville.

The drowning is the seventh one to occur at the man-made reservoir in just four months. Over the years, others have drowned in a lake that's been described as deceptively deep and sometimes treacherous — particularly after strong storms that change the force of its currents and add debris to its depths.

Of the recent drowning incident, two bodies have yet to be recovered months later. Below is a list of recent drownings at Lake Travis:
