Light ’em up! Ascension Providence Glows Pink

Ascension Providence glows pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month through October

Ascension Providence glows pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, serving as a reminder to women to get regular mammograms.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States. The average woman in the United States has about a 1 in 8 chance of being diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in her life, according to the American Cancer Society (ACS). The American Cancer Society also projects that breast cancer will take the lives of approximately 42,170 U.S. women this year alone.

The American Cancer Society recommends a baseline mammogram at the age of 40, annual mammograms between the ages of 45 and 54 and a transition to biennial mammograms at age 55 and up. Early diagnosis dramatically increases one’s chances of survival.
