Here are the top stories in Austin today:
1) The Austin Marathon went off without a hitch yesterday with Damaris Areba winning the elite women's division with a time of 2:36:51 and George Onyancha winning the elite men's division with a time for 2 hours, 16 minutes, 35 seconds. The Austin American-Statesman has a full recap and photos from the event – check it out!
2) The Austin Police Department responded to multiple street racing incidents on Saturday night. Video footage from the incident at the intersection of South Lamar Boulevard and Barton Springs Road showed cars spinning and drifting, crowds pushing back a police car, and setting off fireworks in the street. Police officials are still Saturday night's incidents. Head to KVUE for the full scoop.
3) Warm weather is on the horizon for Central Texas. KVUE reports that the highs today will top out in the lower 80s, with Tuesday expected to spill into the 80s, as well. KVUE has the full weather forecast here.
4) Ever wondered just how many potholes were filled, sidewalks were repaired, and new roads were added or repaired across Austin in the last year? Austin Public Works, the city department responsible for managing capital projects and maintains roads, bridges, sidewalks, trails across the city released its 2022 annual report outlining the department's performance last year.
