Lotto Texas Jackpot Grows To $18 Million

AUSTIN, TX — Nobody matched the six numbers needed to win the jackpot on Saturday, Aug. 24, pushing the prize for next week to $18 million.

The drawing on Saturday was for $17.25 million, but nobody matched the drawn numbers. What that means is that the prize for next week's drawing on Wednesday, Aug. 28, will have a cash value option of $13.7 million.

The winning numbers drawn on Saturday, Aug. 24, are: 11-31-42-48-50-52.

According to the Texas Lottery Commission, 20 players matched five out of the six numbers for a prize of $1,381. One person scored $11,381 after matching five of six numbers using the Extra! option that costs an extra buck.

So check those tickets, even though you didn't hit the big prize. They may still be valuable.

Because smaller prizes are awarded for as few as two digits (assuming you chose the Extra! option for the pair), you might want to check the ticket from earlier this week that you probably crumbled in frustration after not matching all six numbers.

Have you ironed out that crumbled ticket yet after retrieving it from the waste basket? Okay, so the winning numbers for Wednesday, Aug. 21, are: 18-28-29-36-48-52. Although nobody matched all the six number needed for the big prize, the Texas Lottery Commission reports eight players matched five of the six digits for $3,082 payouts.

Now a little over three grand ain't $17.25 million, but it's something. School just started, and the kid needs a new pair of shoes. Another 692 players matched four of the six numbers, lottery officials said, good for $52. That's good for at least a modest pair of shoes for the kid, no?

Lotto Texas drawings take place every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:12 p.m. CT. Ticket sales are not available during Draw Break, from 10:02 p.m. to 10:15 p.m., which means you can't rush out to the store to buy tickets during that period of time because it's too close to the drawing time.
