1) Police investigating after man found dead in a car in Central Austin. APD received a call from an unidentified man around 10:20 PM on Sunday before the line disconnected. Officers arrived at the scene in the 900 block of North I-35 northbound to find a man dead with gunshot wounds. KVUE has more on this story here.


2) Man in hospital after shooting near 6th St. Austin Police are investigating after a man was shot underneath Interstate 35 in downtown Austin Monday morning. Police say the man was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. As of 4:00 AM, APD did not have any suspects in custody. Learn more about this story here on KVUE.


3) Some companies with large Austin operations will pay for abortion-related travel. Following SCOTUS overturning of Roe v. Wade, a number of corporations across the country announced plans to cover travel costs for employees seeking an abortion. Many of these companies are based in Austin or have significant operations in the metro area. Learn more about which companies have expanded their coverage here at the Austin-American Statesman.


4) Head of Austin's civil rights office on leave amid an investigation into alleged employee mistreatment. Carol Johnson, Director of Austin's Office of Civil Right, has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into complaints made against her. A city spokesperson says "This action does not mean that the City has made any final determination about the complaints but is instead a temporary step to ensure the continuity of the OCR's work while this matter is under review."
