Man Gets 80 Years Imprisonment For Sexual Assault Of Child

Prosecutor found Casey Ray Cox, 31, sexually assaulted stepdaughter at least 200 times when she was between the ages of 8 to 13.

TRAVIS COUNTY, TX — A Travis County jury recently rendered a guilty verdict against a man accused of continuous sexual assault of a child, handing down an 80-year prison sentence.

Casey Ray Cox, 31, was found guilty of the crime in the court visiting Judge Dan Mills, the district attorney's office said in an Aug. 30 press advisory. Now 15, the victim testified that Cox, her stepfather, abused her when she was between the ages of 8 and 13. The prosecution cited at least 200 incidents of sexual assault by the defendant against the victim during this time period, according to the DA.

The offense Continuous Sexual Assault of a Child is a first-degree felony that carries a punishment range of a minimum of 25 years in prison up to a life in prison. Under the law, the defendant must serve the sentence day-for-day and does not receive good time credit towards the sentence.

The state was represented by Travis County assistant district attorneys Joe Frederick and Christy May. Following the verdict, Chief Prosecutor Joe Frederick said: “This is a case where the horrific became routine, and the abuse this defendant inflicted on this child is something that no one should endure. The bravery and strength of this young victim is something that is rarely seen and the message this jury has sent with their verdict shows that the citizens of Travis County value our children.”
