Round Rock Man Killed In East Austin Shooting; Arrest Made

The shooting victim was pronounced dead at the scene before police made an arrest Tuesday morning.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Police on Tuesday released more details related to an overnight fatal shooting in East Austin, including the names of the suspect and victim.

Just after 9 p.m. on Monday, Travis County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of shots fired at a business at Highway 90 and FM 969. Upon arrival, officers found the body of Marc Allan Shaw, 38, of Round Rock in a parking lot behind the building. Police said in a press advisory that Shaw had multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body.

Just after 9:30 p.m., the sheriff's office received a call from a witness who provided information related to the events that led up to the shooting, along with the name of the suspect and the location of his vehicle. As a result, deputies later found the abandoned vehicle before embarking on a search of the Austin's Colony neighborhood upon reports the suspect had been spotted running from the car.

Aided by police canines, a helicopter and the sheriff's office task force, deputies scoured the area as residents of Austin's Colony were sent reverse 911 notifications alerting them of the search while urging them to stay indoors.

Just before 8:30 am on Tuesday, the sheriff's office received a call from a business on FM 969 from a caller advising police the suspect might have holed up inside the business where the shooting first occurred. Based on that tip, deputies took Andre Lashon Ross, 44, of Austin into custody. He has since been charged with murder, with bond set at $1 million, the sheriff's office said.

It's unclear what may have led to the shooting. Patch will update when more information is known as to the possible motivation in the killing.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — A Monday night shooting in East Austin left a man dead and a suspect arrested, officials said.

In a tweet just before 9:30 p.m., Austin-Travis County EMS medics said the shooting occurred along the 12200 block of FM 969 Road where a man was dead at the scene. By Tuesday morning, police arrested Andre Lashon Ross, 44, after having released a photo of him. Police followed up their earlier message identifying the suspect with an update just before 9 a.m. that he had been placed under arrest.

In their earlier tweet, police advised the public that Ross, 44, had last been seen traveling on foot in the Austin's Colony neighborhood. At the time of the sighting, police added, Ross was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt and blue jeans.
