Man Killed By Plane At Austin Airport Identified

Junin Ko, 22, was struck by a Southwest Airlines arriving aircraft last week at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, police said.

AUSTIN, TX — The man who died after being struck by an aircraft at Austin Airport on Thursday has been identified.

The victim was identified as 22-year-old Junin Ko.

The incident occurred just after 8:20 p.m. along the 3600 block of Presidential Boulevard, Austin-Travis County EMS officials wrote on Twitter. Medics reported the adult victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reached by Patch on his cell phone, Austin-Berstrom International Airport spokesperson Bryce Dubee said the man was struck by an arriving commercial aircraft on Runway 17R. Austin police later confirmed the jet was a Southwest Airlines aircraft.

Dubee did not specify if the deceased man was an airport employee, and police provided no further details on Monday.
