AUSTIN, TX — A man was shot dead in the eastern portion of Travis County near Manor on Thursday evening, Austin police said.
The incident occurred at 7:55 p.m. along the 10095 block of U.S. 290 near Manor, a police officer briefing reporters said. Upon arrival, medics and police found the male victim mortally wounded in the parking lot of a business. The man in his 40s was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.
Late Thursday, police had no suspect in custody. However, the police officer who briefed reporters said there was no threat to the public. When police use such verbiage, it means to suggest the victim and suspect knew each other with violence the culmination of a confrontation and not a random act.
