Despite it being one of the most heavily policed parts of the city given its entertainment district status, there have been several shootings in the downtown area in recent months. Saturday night's shooting comes less than a week after another one that occurred just before 3 a.m. — also along the 500 block of 7th Street — that left a woman injured.
