Man Who Was Cliff Diving Into Lake Travis With Friends Feared Drowned
Emergency crews searched in vain for 21-year-old for several hours before the rescue mission became a recovery effort.

AUSTIN, TX — What began as a rescue mission in the search for a man who went missing after cliff diving into Lake Travis Sunday afternoon is now a recovery effort as the diver is now feared dead, officials said.
The man was reportedly diving about a half-mile from Riviera Marina on the northern portion of the lake, a Travis County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said. The man was in a party barge with others who decided to dive into the lake after anchoring the vessel.
The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. on Sunday. In addition to sheriff's deputies, medics with Austin-Travis County EMS, Travis County Fire and Rescue teams and STAR Flight helicopter personnel participated in the search for the 21-year-old male to no avail.
