Missing Elderly Man Found Safe In Austin

Martin 'Earl' "Beaty, 79, last seen leaving his home at 3 a.m. along the 10300 block of Morado Cove on Jan. 1, has been located.

AUSTIN, TX — The elderly man who went missing on Jan. 1 — prompting a broad search by law enforcement officials and others — has been found safe, police said on Thursday.

Martin "Earl" Beaty, 79, was last seen leaving his home at 3 a.m. along the 10300 block of Morado Cove, according to a Jan. 1 police advisory. Police promptly issued a plea for help from the public in locating the man, stressing a heightened concern for his welfare given his advanced age and medical conditions.

By Thursday morning, police issued a press advisory saying Beaty had been found safe.

AUSTIN, TX — Police on Wednesday issued a plea for help from the public in locating a missing elderly man.

Martin "Earl"Beaty, 79, was last seen leaving his home at 3 a.m. along the 10300 block of Morado Cove, according to a police advisory. He is believed to be driving his silver, 2007 Nissan Frontier pickup with matching silver camper bearing the license plate tab BV2 1619.

Police said the man's advanced age and medical conditions heighten concern over his welfare. He is described as a white male standing five feet, ten inches tall and weighing 175 pounds. He has blonde/gray hair and blue eyes. Beaty was last seen wearing a dark green quilted zip-up jacket, faded jeans and white tennis shoes. He sometimes wears glasses, police added.

The Austin Police Department released photos of Beaty in the hopes someoen might see him and alert officials as to his whereabouts. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately and/or the Missing Persons Unit at (512) 974-5250 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
