Missing Girl Sought By Austin ISD Police

AUSTIN, TX — Police seek help from the public in locating a missing girl believed to be with her mother against a court order.

According to the Austin ISD campus police, the girl — identified as 7th grader Avery Reynolds — was last seen at Small Middle School on Friday, Jan. 10. It's believed the girl is with her mother, Kassia Vaughan, in violation of a court order related to custody, according to campus officials.

Campus police said the girl has brown hair and was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, black pants and teal sneakers. Austin ISD police released images of the girl and her mother on social media to enhance the chances of somebody recognizing and alert police as to their whereabouts.

Police ask anyone who may know the whereabouts of the two to call Austin ISD police at (512) 414-1703 or dial 9-1-1.

The Small Middle School principal sent a letter home to parents on Wednesday in an effort to keep them updated. It reads:

"Parents and guardians:

Recently, we have had students report to our counseling team and administration about concerns over a student who has been missing since Friday. Whether they read about the issue on social media, or have gone over the situation with you, we want you to know we are doing everything we can to keep our students safe and are also cooperating to the fullest extent with local authorities on this matter.

The student’s name is Avery Reynolds and she was last seen on our campus on Friday, January 10th, shortly after 4:00 p.m. (picture attached) She is a 7th grade student with brown hair and was last seen wearing a grey, Small MS sweatshirt, black pants and teal sneakers. The family, along with AISD PD and the Constable’s Office, is actively searching and welcomes any information you or your student may have.
