MoPac Areas Close Ahead Of Divergent Diamond Intersection Debut
Slaughter Lane bridge at MoPac and the exit ramp at southbound MoPac To Close Saturday ahead of new road feature opening.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Texas Department of Transportation crews are scheduled to open the diverging diamond intersection (DDI) at Slaughter Lane and MoPac on Sunday, weather permitting, according to officials.
As a result of the planned opening, the Slaughter Lane bridge at MoPac and the exit ramp at southbound MoPac will be closed from Saturday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, when the DDI will open to traffic.
Final striping, permanent signals and overhead signs for the bridge will be installed by early 2019, officials noted in a press advisory. In the meantime, additional temporary signage and lane markings will be in place to help motorists travel through the intersection until the permanent signs can be installed. Once the DDI is open, traffic flow in the area should improve.

Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes during the closure, as delays are expected. TxDOT asks the traveling public to be patient and remain aware when traveling through the work zone.
Among the next steps for the project include constructing the La Crosse Avenue overpass and continuing work to extend the MoPac mainlanes. Work on the La Crosse Avenue overpass is anticipated to begin in early 2019.
