Ahead of Christmas, analysts sought to learn what the most popular toys were in each state. Spoiler alert: Texas kids love game consoles.
AUSTIN, TX — Just in time for the holiday season, the most popular toy in Texas has been revealed, and it is (drum roll, please): The Nintendo Switch.
Analysts at Reviews.org sought out to find the most popular toys in each state, learning the video game console is the most popular toy in Texas. According to a Wikipedia page detailing the product, it's a game with wireless Joy-Con controllers with standard buttons and directional analog sticks for user input, motion sensing and tactile feedback that can attach to both sides of the console to support handheld-style play.
Admittedly, we don't know what half of that means. Whatever happened to the Slinky?

"Kids these days like their gaming systems just like their French fries: to go," researchers wrote in their study. "And we’re not talking about that clunky old Gameboy you used to catch the original 150 Pokémon. We’re talking about the sleek and powerful Nintendo Switch."
The Switch ranks as the most popular Christmas toy of 2019 not just in Texas but in California, Nevada, and Utah, according to the findings. It's also tops in Washington, D.C., analysts noted.

Interestingly for a state that loves its guns, the No. 1 most popular toy in more than one-fifth of the U.S. — Nerf guns — did not emerge as the top choice in the Lone Star State. The soft projectile gun is most popular in 11 states: Arkansas; Colorado; Hawaii; Idaho; Indiana; Montana; New Mexico; Oklahoma; South Dakota; Wisconsin; and Wyoming.
