Motorcycle Crashes in Austin After Brief Police Chase Sunday Night
The rider was pronounced dead on the scene.

Austin's ninth fatal traffic crash of 2026 happened on Sunday evening after a crash on East Parmer Lane and Old Hwy 20.
Austin Police Department released a statement on Tuesday about the ninth fatal crash of the year. According to the release, 20-year-old Javan Jackson was pursued by a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper around 8 p.m.
"During the pursuit, the trooper lost sight of the motorcycle, and the pursuit was terminated," the press release states.

Later, the department received a report about a fatal motorcycle crash at the intersection of East Parmer Lane and old Hwy 20. Jackson, the rider of the motorcycle, was pronounced dead on scene.
This is the ninth fatal crash in Austin for the year. Last year at this time, the city had seen five fatal crashes resulting in five deaths.

The eighth fatal crash of the year happened on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 1315 Mearns Meadow Boulevard. Fifty-nine-year-old Ezequiel Diaz Lopez was driving a van that collided with a parked trailer on the west curb line.
Diaz Lopez was the sole occupant of the van. He was transported to the hospital and later pronounced deceased. That investigation is also still ongoing.
