Motorcyclist Critically Injured In East Austin Crash

The crash between a car and motorcycle Sunday evening leaves a man in his 40s with potentially life-threatening injuries, medics said.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — A motorcyclist was critically injured after colliding with a car in East Austin on Sunday evening, medics confirmed.

The crash between a car and motorcycle occurred just before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Bolm Road and Airport Boulevard, Austin-Travis County EMS officials wrote on Twitter. The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, sustained serious, potentially life-threatening injuries before being transported to Dell Seton Medical Center, medics added.

The incident marked the second serious accident involving a motorcycle in the area in as many days. On Saturday evening at around 6:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to the 6400 block of the 183A toll road amid reports of a collision involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle. An investigation revealed that the truck driver had collided into a median, sending debris onto the roadway that the motorcyclist was unable to avoid before crashing.

The motorcyclist, identified as 45-year-old Dane Benjamin Hone, was rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries before succumbing to his injuries early Sunday morning, police said.
