Multiple Police Agencies Patrolling Lake Travis Area During Memorial Day Weekend
Joint task force watchful for impaired drives will include Travis County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety and others.

TRAVIS COUNTY, TX — Police from various agencies will be out in full force during the Memorial Day weekend on the lookout for impaired or reckless drivers during the holiday period around the popular Lake Travis.
"Memorial Day weekend routinely draws scores of people to Lake Travis. Along with those crowds, come additional risks, not only on the lake, but also on the roadways leading to it," officials explained."In an effort to reduce the number of vehicle crashes and intoxicated drivers on the water and on roadways, Travis County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Bee Cave Police Department, Lakeway Police Department, Jonestown Police Department, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are working together as a joint task force."
The high visibility task force will be on the lookout for motorists who are violating traffic laws, officials said. Their goal is to reduce the number of crashes, unsafe drivers and intoxicated drivers, reduce damage to highway infrastructure caused by crashes and intensify crime prevention efforts. The initiative will run from May 26 - 29.
