- On Thursday, May 5, "Nobel Peace Prize winner and former President of Poland Lech Walesa" will give a speech titled "Russia's War on Ukraine and Its Global Impact" from 5-7 p.m. at the "AT&T Hotel and Conference Center, amphitheater 204" at 1900 University Ave. Walesa, "one of the leaders most responsible for the fall of the Iron Curtain and the liberation of hundreds of millions of people in the former Soviet Bloc," will provide "a unique perspective on Russia's war against Ukraine and on Putin's global aggression." - After being postponed in 2021 due to COVID-19, "the Met Gala returned "the first Monday in May" this year in Austin. The theme of "the annual fundraiser for the Met's Costume Institute" was full of "gilded glamour." Among the guests were Tesla CEO Elon Musk accompanied by his mother, supermodel Maye Musk, and the "girl from Golden," singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves and music was provided by Houston native Lizzo.
