National Sandwich Day Deals Start Piling Up

AUSTIN, TEXAS — We don't know about you, but we here at the Austin Patch look as forward to National Sandwich Day each year as most others highly anticipate Christmas or St. Valentine's Day. Why? Because of free or reduced sandwiches!

And like a National Sandwich Day miracle, the email address for Patch in Austin has been increasingly stuffed with eateries' missives alerting to their deals on that special day, Nov. 3. Below is a sampling of some of restaurants with sandwich deals on this most auspicious and delicious observance.

SCHLOTZSKY'S

Schlotzsky's announced its buy-one-get-one-free deal for the observance. Applicable at all locations, the deal is for any medium sandwich, although restaurant officials said customers can "double the meat" for just $2 more.

JERSEY MIKE'S SUBS

Jersey Mike’s Subs’ 1,500 locations across the country are expecting to serve up hundreds of thousands of authentic fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs. On that day, look for a $2 off any regular sub coupon from Jersey Mike’s sent to email club members and shared with fans on Facebook, valid Nov. 3-6. Additionally, the company proclaims November “National Sub Month,” and will run a contest each week, Monday through Thursday, on social media for entrants to win prizes from gift cards to T-shirts.

For National Sandwich Day inspiration, watch highlights from Jersey Mike’s recent National Sub-Making Competition, dubbed the G13 Competition because competitors make a Giant #13 The Original Italian, the company’s most popular sub. The winning team from Port St. Lucie, Florida — Madison Ballash, Selena Cepeda and Austin Halle — won $10,000 each.

While you wait like us for arrival of The Great Sandwich, here are some fun facts courtesy of Jersey Mike’s Trend Tracker reports*:

• 98 percent of respondents eat at least one sandwich a week.
• Two out of five (39 percent) say they eat three or more sandwiches per week.
• Three-quarters (76 percent) crave subs for lunch.

MCALISTER'S DELI

Also offering a nice deal on National Sandwich Day is McAlister's Deli locations. The chain will be offering a great deal on its namesake sandwich, The McAlister's Club. For one day only, customers can purchase a full-sized, delicious McAlister's Club for $4 at every restaurant location.

This fan favorite sandwich is stacked thirteen layers high with smoked turkey, Black Forest Ham, bacon, sharp cheddar, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, McAlister's Honey Mustard and mayo on sliced wheat bread and includes a pickle and a choice of side. The $4 McAlister's Club offer is valid for dine-in, however, a guest can order in-restaurant and take it to go. One per person.
