EAST AUSTIN, TX — California-based ARRIVE Hotels & Restaurants on Tuesday announced the dates of its opening of an East Austin hotel slated for next month.

The July 10 opening marks the third hotel for the fast-growing brand, officials said. The 83-room hotel at 1813 E. 6th St., on the corner of East 6th and Chicon streets, (which is now accepting reservations) is also gearing up for the launch of two restaurants —Vixen’s Wedding and Lefty’s Brick Bar — as well as a gin bar and Cartel Coffee Lab.

“ARRIVE was built to welcome guests to our favorite part of Austin — East Austin — and embrace those who call the city home,” Chief Executive Officer Matthew Steinberg of ARRIVE Hotels & Restaurants said in a prepared statement. “Austin’s energy is magnetic, and we wanted to ensure we built a space where locals and guests not only feel welcome, but part of our tribe and add to the vibe of the hotel.”

Hotel officials described the ambiance this way: Guests of the five-story East Austin property will check in at the bar, where a welcome drink and snack are on the house. There, they’ll be handed a key card designed by a local artist, with images that capture East Austin’s rich tradition of public murals and also pay tribute to the state’s larger cowboy mythology. Along with this pocket-sized art, visitors will receive a thoughtfully curated field guide to keep their Austin exploration game strong, complete with a list of the best food trucks, mouthwatering barbecue, and tips on speaking the local lingo. Guests should keep their cell phones handy throughout their stay, as all requests, from towels to toothpaste, will be handled via text messages to the number listed on the room key.

Hotel officials also provided an expanded description:

Comfortable and Fun

Opposites attract at ARRIVE East Austin with each of the 83 studios and suites featuring modern industrial finishes against a wall of bright, Instagram-worthy wallpaper. Custom Wood Castle mill work complements cosmic collages by local artist Sarah Presson, whose artwork pops off the key cards. Guests will feel right at home with luxury bedding and Turkish towels by Brooklinen, making it the first hotel to carry the brand. Marble-accented bathrooms feature floor-to-ceiling subway tile and come stocked with Niven Morgan’s aromatic bath essentials.

“We're all about low-key luxury and we never stop thinking about how to make our guests happier than when they arrived,” said Chris Frazier, Hotel General Manager, ARRIVE East Austin. “Comfort and functionality were a singular focus in the creation of this hotel because, ultimately, we’re a temporary home for guests.”

And this way:

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry

When hunger sets in, ARRIVE East Austin is all over it. Local husband and wife chef team Todd Duplechan and Jessica Maher will helm Vixen’s Wedding, a Goan- and Portuguese-influenced restaurant that will serve intensely flavorful family-style seafood, pork and vegetable dishes. Must-order items include: BBQ Pig Ear and Chickpea Puree; Whole Coconut Crab Curry; Shrimp & Chorizo Cataplana; and a selection of warm breads and chutneys such as Garlic Paratha, Hopi Blue Corn Roti, Sweet Potato Pao. ARRIVE’s 58,600-square-foot project also incorporates the adaptive reuse of a 100-year-old warehouse, now housing Lefty’s Brick Bar. There, the husband and wife duo are perfecting a Banh Boy—a spicy hybrid pork, chicken, or vegetable po-boy, which gives nod to the Banh Mi, one of Todd’s favorite meals from Cajun cookouts growing up.
Diners can keep the libations flowing at Gin Bar, located on the 2nd floor deck, with more than 50 gin varieties from Argentina to New Zealand. And in the morning, after a night of East Austin quirkiness, Cartel Coffee Lab is the ideal spot to get perked up.

ARRIVE East Austin’s opening rate—the “Yep, We’re Finally Open”—rate, is $150 for King Studio rooms through Labor Day and bookable here. Following Labor Day, ARRIVE East Austin’s standard rates start at $199 nightly. For additional information, visit https://arrivehotels.com/eastaustin/.
