Here are the top stories in Austin today:
- Austin Community College (ACC), in partnership with Texas State University (TSU), are participating "in a new pilot program to help more students successfully transfer." The new program, called the "Transfer Student Success and Equity Intensive," is "founded and funded by the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU)." According to ACC, it "provides a unique opportunity for community colleges and four-year institutions to come together to develop and implement institution policies and practices that ensure equitable access, retention, and graduation outcomes." - "National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day" will be held on Saturday, April 30 at the Austin Animal Center on 7201 Levander Loop Bldg. According to Kelsey Cler, marketing and communication manager for Austin Animal Center, "National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day is celebrated across the nation and highlights the millions of homeless animals in shelters waiting to be adopted."
