  1. Christine Walker, former associate chief nursing officer at St. David's South Austin Medical Center, is now the chief nursing officer at Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. In her previous position, "she directly supervised emergency services, oncology/bone marrow inpatient and outpatient services, critical care services, environmental services, and food and nutrition services." In her new role, which began on Jan. 10, she "will oversee nursing operations as well as processes and resources to improve patient care." Don Karl, chief executive officer of Las Palmas Medical Center said, "We are proud to welcome Christine to our leadership team. Her extensive experience in both nursing and hospital leadership as well as her knowledge of the health care system in Texas will prove invaluable to our nursing department. We look forward to the great things she'll do at our hospital and in the El Paso community."   3. Texas-based country singer and songwriter, Jesse Daniel, will be in Austin for several days during his "My Kind of Country Tour." The California-born performer recently "released a studio version of a song" titled "Just Because You Asked Me To" from Waylon "Jennings' Honky Tonk Heroes album that he co-wrote with Billy Joe Shaver, which features Daniel's partner, Jodi Lyford.
