Not Your Father's Fries: All-Fry Restaurant Coming To Austin
Expansion-minded Get Fried plans new stores in Texas, including one inside Dobie Mall food court near University of Texas at Austin.

AUSTIN, TX — The phrase "Do you want fries with that?" is about to take a whole new meaning in Austin — and Dallas and Houston too — with the imminent arrival of Get Fried, a restaurant offering a wide array of the potato wedges in dizzying variety.
According to San Antonio CultureMap, the company is planning local restaurants in the aforementioned cities by the end of the first quarter in 2018. Founded by Chris Covelli, who was inspired by the french fry cafes he saw on a trip to Amsterdam, the all-fry restaurants have grown in popularity since he opened the first store Buffalo, New York, nearly three years ago with business partner Garrett Green, according to the report.
In their announcement, a Get Fried Cafe is planned inside the Dobie Mall food court near the University of Texas at Austin. Company officials said other locations are scheduled worldwide, from Austin to Cairo.

San Antonio franchisor Muhammad Abdullah has operated a food truck version since last year in San Antonio, where a brick-and-mortar version will open at North Star Mall in the city's North Side, according to the report. The menu offers has six versions of french fries: hand-cut, seasoned waffle, coated straight cut, curly, sweet potato, and funnel, Abdullah explained.
But wait, there's more: After choosing their favored fries, customers can select from among more than a dozen condiment selections including chipotle, ketchup, malt vinegar, maple syrup and mayonnaise. Then, patrons get their selections "topped" with such offerings as bacon, pulled pork and shredded chicken.

There's even a sweet potato version topped with cinnamon, maple syrup and powdered sugar. And Texas cheese fries come with bacon, cheese, chili powder and chive. Oh, and there's a poutine variety, inspired by the beloved Canada french fry dish that's topped with cheese curds and gravy.
Clearly, these are not your grandfather's fries.
Yet words alone fail to capture the majestic, heartwarming and life-affirming nature of the culinary offering. So we turn to pictures. Behold, and get ready to salivate:
