🌱 Open Houses In Austin + AISD Planning Periods + EU@SXSW Austin
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Austin.

Happy Thursday, Austin! Here are the most important things happening in town today.
First, today's weather:
Cloudy with a little rain. High: 41 Low: 33.
Here are the top stories in Austin today:
- Shopping for a house online can be fun, but there's nothing like actually going to an open house in person, and Patch and Redfin can help you find that. Currently there are two open houses in Austin that you may consider visiting. For details on those and other properties in the area, check out: (Austin Patch)
- The Austin Independent School District (AISD) is proposing to provide an additional planning period for all elementary school teachers due to sharp drops in student academic outcomes and widening of achievement gaps during COVID-19. AISD believes planning periods will "address these gaps by personalizing learning for every student." According to the district, "there would be a $6 million investment to hire additional essential teachers, including teacher assistants for P.E. classes" under the proposal. For details on the proposal, see AISD's Elementary Planning Period Proposal FAQ and visit: (KVUE.com)
- EU@SXSW will be in Austin from March 12-14 "with an exciting line-up of in-person events, showcasing European culture, technology, art, policy, and innovation." Stavros Lambrinidis, Ambassador of the European Union said, "We're bringing people at the cutting edge of transatlantic relations, tech innovation, the arts, and culture to this year's SXSW." He added, "I welcome everyone to visit us at the 'EU House' to talk about the big ideas and the big changes that are shaping Europe and the world." The event is free, but registration is required.
