Person Rescued From Underground Pipe In Austin
Emergency crews descended to 12th Street to extricate the person from a storm system, posting dramatic footage on Twitter.
AUSTIN, TX — Emergency crews on Thursday evening descended to a downtown Austin street to rescue a person from inside an underground pipe.
Rescue teams entered the storm water system from multiple locations to reach the subject just after 7 p.m. from a trench at the intersection of East 12th Street and Curve Street. Fire crews posted footage on Twitter from inside the storm system as they attempted to extricate the person from the 18-inch subterranean pipe.
Ultimately, emergency crews were able to extricate the person from the pipe. According to Austin-Travis County EMS, the adult patient sustained injuries that were deemed serious and potentially life-threatening before being transported to Dell Seton Medical Center.

It's unclear how the person came to be stuck inside the storm system.
