Police ID Elderly Man Who Died In East Austin Crash

The incident occurred along the 6700 block of Johnny Morris Road on Tuesday, Nov. 12, just after 4:30 p.m., police said.

AUSTIN, TX — Police on Friday identified the elderly man who died in a two-vehicle car crash in East Austin last month.

The incident occurred along the 6700 block of Johnny Morris Road on Tuesday, Nov. 12, just after 4:30 p.m., according to a police advisory. A preliminary investigation found the driver of a white 2003 Toyota Tundra was traveling eastbound along the 6500 block of Loyola Lane approaching the intersection with Johnny Morris Road when a 2003 gray Infiniti traveling westbound approached the same intersection.

The driver of the Tundra began to turn left onto Johnny Morris Road before being T-boned on the right passenger side by the Infiniti.

Police initially believed the injuries sustained by those involved were not life-threatening, but the passenger of the Tundra died of his injuries on Dec. 3. The man was identified as Isaac Albarran, 75. Police noted the driver of the Infiniti was cited for driving without a driver's license.

The incident marked the city's 78th fatal traffic crash so far this year, resulting in 80 fatalities this year. At this time in 2018, police said, there were 66 fatal traffic crashes and 67 traffic fatalities.
