AUSTIN, TX — Police on Tuesday identified the man who was killed after crashing into another vehicle last weekend. The collision occurred on Friday, Dec. 6, just before 7 a.m. along the 8700 block of West State Highway 71, police said. According to a police advisory, a gray 2020 Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound along the highway when it crossed into the westbound lanes before striking a white, 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee head-on. The driver of the Camry, identified as 27-year-old Cody Allen Faust, was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. He was pronounced dead at 12:45 p.m., police said. The driver of the Jeep and a passenger in the Camry also were transported to hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. The accident marked the 79th fatal crash in Austin so far this year, resulting in 81 fatalities.
