Police ID Man Killed In State Highway 71 Crash
The collision on Friday, Dec. 6, just before 7 a.m. left a 27-year-old man dead and two others injured, according to police.
AUSTIN, TX — Police on Tuesday identified the man who was killed after crashing into another vehicle last weekend.
The collision occurred on Friday, Dec. 6, just before 7 a.m. along the 8700 block of West State Highway 71, police said. According to a police advisory, a gray 2020 Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound along the highway when it crossed into the westbound lanes before striking a white, 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee head-on.
The driver of the Camry, identified as 27-year-old Cody Allen Faust, was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. He was pronounced dead at 12:45 p.m., police said. The driver of the Jeep and a passenger in the Camry also were transported to hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The accident marked the 79th fatal crash in Austin so far this year, resulting in 81 fatalities. At this time in 2018, police added, there were 71 fatal traffic crashes and 72 traffic fatalities.
